Quick answer

Choose your destination on Stocking Island before arranging the boat. Confirm the exact landing, access inclusions and return pickup; a ticket to one venue is not an island-wide transport pass.

Stocking Island is an appealing change of pace from driving Great Exuma. The important first decision is where you want to land. “A boat to Stocking Island” can mean a transfer to a particular beach club, a water taxi to another landing, or a charter with its own itinerary. Those arrangements can have different access rules and return plans.

Pick the kind of day you want

For a straightforward afternoon, choose one waterfront venue and make that your base. For a walking day, discuss the route, landing and pickup with your boat provider before leaving George Town. For several water-access stops, ask about a charter rather than assuming you can move between them on demand. Our Stocking Island guide is the place to compare locations before arranging transport.

Understand beach-club transfers

Peace & Plenty advertises transfers from George Town to its Stocking Island beach club, with different arrangements for resort guests and day visitors. Its published day-pass offer includes a return boat trip. Check the current price, operating day, departure dock and included facilities directly before paying. We deliberately do not turn an advertised journey time into a guaranteed crossing time: boarding, waiting and weather also affect the day.

The Peace & Plenty Beach Club page and swings listing show the destination. The swings are a place to visit when conditions and venue access allow, not a promise that every feature will be available on arrival.

Questions for a water-taxi booking

Save the operator's contact and a screenshot of the meeting instructions before boarding. Do not assume mobile reception, a restaurant employee or a different taxi will resolve a missed return arrangement.

Allow time for the island itself

If you plan a walk to the Monument Hill area, confirm the current route and access locally. Wear footwear suited to uneven ground, carry drinking water and leave time to return to your actual pickup point. A scenic photograph from the hill is not a map of the trail. The Monument Hill listing includes an owner photograph of the harbour view to help explain the setting.

Also avoid treating the island's different coastlines as interchangeable. Conditions at your landing do not establish conditions on another shore. For any swimming or snorkeling, ask about the specific site and current conditions, stay within your abilities and follow the operator's instructions.

Meals and what to carry

Check whether your chosen venue will serve food during your visit and whether you need to reserve for a larger group. Pack water, sun protection, a towel, a dry bag and the payment method the provider accepts. If you have dietary requirements, discuss them before the crossing. Do not assume another kitchen is a short, accessible walk away.

Two ways to spend the afternoon

For a walking day, choose a short out-and-back route from a landing the operator confirms. Check the Bahamas National Trust's current park map and visitor guidance, then confirm the permitted path and turnaround locally. The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism describes the Stocking Island Beacon as a hiking attraction. Confirm the route before using it as your goal.

For an easier afternoon, choose one beach or venue and agree on pickup from that same landing. Leave enough time to get back to the dock without relying on an unfamiliar shoreline shortcut.

A simple afternoon structure

Travel across with a confirmed return, get oriented at the landing, have lunch or a drink if planned, and leave the rest of the visit for one beach area or a manageable walk. Check your return details before you become occupied. For families or anyone who dislikes complicated logistics, fewer stops can be the best version of this day.
