Hoopers Bay

Hoopers Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas · Beaches
Hoopers Bay is a beach north of George Town on Great Exuma, known in local visitor guides for sea turtles seen around the piers. I Love Exuma describes a signed beach-access route leading down to the sand. Exuma Exclusives also identifies road access from Queen’s Highway, so a boat excursion is not the only way to plan a visit. Wildlife is the main distinction of this stop, but turtles are free-ranging animals: a sighting, close encounter or particular number of turtles should never be promised.

Practical visitor information

Watch turtles quietly without feeding, touching or chasing them; I Love Exuma specifically advises against feeding or handling. Give animals space and avoid obstructing their movement. Keep clear of working docks and boat traffic, and do not assume a private pier is a public viewing platform. Confirm the current signed entrance, parking arrangements and path condition before visiting, especially if anyone in your party has limited mobility. Bring your own water and sun protection. Toilets, changing facilities, lifeguards and equipment hire have not been verified. If wildlife does not appear, enjoy the shoreline without trying to attract animals with food.
